Michael Douglas endorses Joel Rubin in MD-08 – The Hill
March 4, 2016Actor Michael Douglas is lending his star power to a contender in a multi-candidate Democratic primary for Maryland’s 8th Congressional District.
Douglas announced Thursday he is backing former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Joel Rubin in the struggle for the House seat.
“Joel Rubin is a proven fighter for progressive values who will deliver results for Maryland’s Eight Congressional District,” he said in a statement obtained by The Hill.
“I’ve seen Joel in action, building broad support for a foreign policy that creates a better, safer world for future generations,” Douglas added. “That’s the kind of leadership our country needs now more than ever.“In Joel, we’ll have a member of Congress who understands our country’s challenges, from America’s role in the world to how to make our economy work again for ordinary Americans. I strongly endorse his run for Congress.”
